Meeting Seniors' Needs During a Pandemic

When the pandemic took away a nonprofit’s ability to provide daily in-person meals, services, and social activities for seniors and vulnerable adults in Phoenix, it had to find another way to engage. Tom Egan, president and CEO of the Foundation for Senior Living (FSL), sat down with us to talk about transforming nonprofit services to meet the needs of Phoenix’s vulnerable and senior population during the pandemic.
Egan said he was impressed by the outpouring of support from the community for seniors during the pandemic, especially because he believes senior services are not normally top of mind for donations. After FSL cancelled its annual fundraiser due to COVID-19, Egan said many people stepped forward to support FSL.
“Waymo was the first company that wrote back and said we want to help,” Egan said.
