For more than 100 years, AAA has been an advocate for traffic safety and mobility. Today, AAA remains committed to helping everyone stay safe on the road by continuously testing vehicle technologies, working with policy makers on safety standards and educating the public.
AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah believes self-driving technology has the potential to further improve safety, mobility and convenience. AAA tests and evaluates emerging vehicle technologies to educate drivers on their safety benefits and limitations, and provide feedback to the automotive industry. We brought a self-driving shuttle to over 32,000 riders in Las Vegas and increased public awareness and acceptance of the technology, and will apply these insights to future efforts.
Government and safety experts estimate that connected and automated vehicles could prevent up to 80% of today’s crashes.
A recent AAA survey found that 3 out of 4 U.S. drivers are “afraid” to ride in a self-driving car.
Drivers who own vehicles equipped with automated features are 75% more likely to trust the technology than those without it.
